Something that is becoming increasingly popular is training with different types of rubber bands. These rubber bands can also be called mini bands, power bands, flex bands or loop bands.
What are the different types of rubber bands?
Because rubber bands are so popular for exercise, there are several different types. The most common are:
- Short and wide mini band: This is perhaps the most common rubber band and it is particularly good for training legs and buttocks. The resistance of the band can be high but the range of motion is smaller. Note, however, that although mini bands are a common name, they can also be called power bands, flex bands, loop bands or just exercise rubber bands.
- Long training rubber band: another variation is a rubber band that is much longer and can therefore be used for slightly different exercises as well as stretching. You can adjust the resistance, for example, by choosing where you stand/hold it, double-bending it or wrapping it around a piece of furniture or similar a few extra times if you have chosen to attach it.
- Exercise rubber band with handles: another variant is a rubber band with handle. These bands often look like an elastic cable or string.
Advantages of a rubber training band
It’s no wonder that these elastic exercise bands have become so popular, because there are great benefits to using them.
First of all, you can do a wide variety of exercises. It’s almost only your imagination that sets the limits. Some exercises are even easier and more beneficial to do at home with an elastic exercise band compared to going to a normally equipped commercial gym.
Secondly, they are very convenient to handle and store. They take up hardly any space and you can easily take them with you if you want to work out outdoors or if you travel away.
Thirdly, they are very cheap. You can get a small portable home gym for the price of a meal!
Best exercise rubber band to buy?
So which rubber band is the best buy? As usual, it depends on what you’re looking for. If you’re mainly looking to train your legs and butt, a mini band/powerband is a great choice. For more flexibility, you can choose a longer rubber band. Furthermore, there are also rigid exercise bands that work in a slightly different way, read more about them here!
